Artist, designer, and curator Chen Yi-Jun, whose art name is “Jì Nà Rainbow Light (Gina Hong Guang),” has received numerous accolades, including awards from the Macao International Art Academy Emerging Art Fair, the Pratt Institute Graphic Design Awards (USA), and the International Printmaking and Drawing Biennial. Her works have also been collected by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. Influenced by the rational aesthetics of German industrial design education, as well as by the emotive impact of Western Abstract Expressionist masters Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, she abstracts the concept of the rainbow by integrating Rothko’s geometric forms with Pollock’s expressive lines through vertical and horizontal combinations and overlaps. Through this approach, she seeks to inspire human perception and imagination—wisdom.
[Exhibition Introduction]
A rainbow is like paint in the sky, its brilliant colors resembling nature’s most beautiful base tones, adorning the entire scene in a poetic and picturesque way while infusing it with a sense of magic and vitality. Through close observation, we explore the vibrant diversity of the rainbow together, while also experiencing the radiance of love and peace emanating from this moment. The exhibition expresses a pursuit of light, hope, and vitality, as well as an exploration of a colorful world.
