Exhibition Introduction:

Artist Hou Chin-Hsiung is an Emeritus Professor of the Department of Leisure and Recreation at National Formosa University, and a senior scholar in the fields of landscape, urban environmental design, and public art. Beyond his busy teaching career, Hou Chin-Hsiung, who values freedom and self-awareness, continues to maintain abundant energy to create artworks every day, becoming a sketch artist who wanders between cities and fields. He strolls through bustling cities, capturing architecture, crowds, and ever-changing urban scenes; he lingers in the countryside, seeking inspiration and tranquility from nature; he embraces the changes of the world within the interwoven daily lives of people and things. This exhibition presents a total of 160 illustration sketch works, condensing urban landscapes, natural scenery, and observations of people onto paper. The works reflect his sensitivity to the diversity and beauty of life, while also allowing viewers to perceive Hou Chin-Hsiung’s philosophy of “non-action” in life. Whether realism, lifelike depiction, emotional expression, or freehand style, these forms are not the most important; what matters most is the moment of drawing itself. The audience is invited to momentarily set themselves free, wander along with the strokes of Hou Chin-Hsiung’s pen, search for scenes within everyday life, and feel the romance of life.
